In other news, Oilers blogger isn't happy that Oilers prospect isn't treated like the high draft spot he was chosen at.

Not that I don't like Nurse, I do, but the fact that you are dissatisfied tells more to your loyalty to the Oilers than lack of intelligence in Hockey Canada.

I mean, there are 6 players including a goaltender from the QMJHL that were invited. It's just that there weren't any QMJHL D-Men invited. I don't think there is a bias.

What about Poirier...

I think the team to start the tourney will look a lot different than it does today.

I think as much as Matt made Nurse his focus, his mention of lack of QMJHL representation just goes to show that there is heavy politics at work here, not just icing the best team of players.

The Q is a wussy league anyway. A great Q DMan is about equal to a second pair D from the dub.

If he was underperforming in his League I wouldn't be angry with Hockey Canada, but this is a guy who is the best at his position in his League. That's where the issue is for me.

I guess the Subway series was basically like shinney hockey; no coaches, play as you feel???

Yes, Nurse tried to do too much and tried to hard to impress but I put a little bit back onto the coaching staff for the series. They could have and should have redirected his intentions.

To take those two games as the indicator seems a bit ridiculous but hey that is hockey Canada.

It's not just the Oilers blogger. Very prominent prospect blogger Corey Pronman said "Thought Nurse was a lock for the team. One of the more surprising moves I've seen by Hockey Canada in recent years."

Bob McKenzie: " Notable omissions that will spark conversation: Max Domi and Darnell Nurse".

TSN Poll is currently asking whether Domi or Nurse is the more notable omission.

Yahoo includes Nurse on their list of players that got "snubbed".

The Hockey Writers report Canadians are "baffled" by leaving Nurse off.

NBCsports called Nurse and Domi the biggest surprise omissions.
Not saying hockey Canada are idiots, but initial response IS that it's a head scratcher.

I predict Canada to be 4th. Very young team and lack of experience is what's going to kill them.

Also no BBC so they lose on that front.

I don't watch as much Junior hockey as some do and haven't seen Nurse this year, but every indication was that he was going to be a key on the blueline for us in the WJC. To not have him play because of a couple games seems pretty pathetic.

Little surprised Reinhart is there, isn't he suspended for a few games still?

It'll be interesting to see what the actual team ends up to be. Injuries etc!

I'm also curious as to why Samuel Morin was left off the list? He's arguably the toughest and biggest D Canada had available to them, and went 11th overall!?

C'mon, he plays for the Q, therefore he is a wussy.

I believe he is suspended for the first three in the qualifying round. It will be interesting to see how he gels with the team after missing those games?

not a big deal in the large scheme of things. but certainly surprising. from the little ive seen and read, he's been dominant all year. pretty much at every facet of the game too

either way, what's important in how fantastic he was in preseason. so stoked to have him in our system
